During 2020, generous donors like you gave special holiday magic and love to over 300 families, representing over 1,400 individuals. Sustaining Saints

Sustaining Saints was created to honor Family and Community Services’s life-saving work in the Rochester area as we embark on our next 100 years of service to our community. Sustaining Saints will honor our most loyal donors and provide a steady stream of support to our life-saving programs. Sustaining Saints commit to a three-year gift of $1,000 or more per year.

Sustaining Saints pledge payments can be made monthly or annually. There are a variety of membership levels and benefits.

Naming Opportunities

Naming opportunities are a permanent way to show your support of the mission of Family and Community Services and to provide hope to the people we serve. All funds raised through naming opportunities support our annual fund campaign, allowing CCFCS to direct the gift to the area with the greatest need.

Family and Community Services provides services to tens of thousands of our neighbors, relatives, and friends in more than a dozen locations throughout our community. Opportunities to name rooms or areas are currently available at the following locations:

  • 87 North Clinton Avenue, Rochester – home of our mental health and refugee services
  • Barrington House, Rochester – a community residence for women and children
  • Restart Substance Use Outpatient Clinic
  • Hannick Hall, Newark – a community residence for women and children
  • Jones House, Rochester – a community residence for men
  • Liberty Manor, Rochester – a residence for women and children
  • Sanctuary House, Rochester – a residence for women and children

For a complete list of naming opportunities at each of our locations or to arrange for a personal tour, please contact Tracy Kroft at (585) 339-9800 x 305 or email: tracy.kroft@dor.org.

Planned Giving Opportunities

By including Family and Community Services in your estate plans, regardless of your income level or age, you can make a difference in our community for generations to come.

What are the most common types of planned gifts?

  • Bequests: One of the easiest ways to remember Family and Community Services in your will is through a bequest. You may choose a portion of your estate, as a percentage or dollar amount, or gift the balance from your estate after other bequests have been made
  • Life Insurance: You can name Family and Community Services as a primary life insurance beneficiary or as a contingent beneficiary should your other beneficiaries not survive you. After your lifetime, the benefits from your policy pass to CCFCS, free of federal estate tax. To make this gift, simply contact your insurance carrier and request a beneficiary form.
  • Retirement Plan Assets: Typically, retirement plan balances are subject to both income and estate taxes. As a nonprofit organization, CCFCS will not pay income tax on the distribution nor will the gift be subject to estate tax. You may use your IRA, 401(k), 403(b) and other retirement plan to name Family and Community Services as your survivor beneficiary, removing some highly taxed assets from your estate and allowing lesser-taxed assets to remain with your beneficiaries.

What are the benefits?

Along with helping to ensure the future work of Family and Community Services, planned giving can offer many potential benefits including:

  • Passing on your assets to loved ones with reduced estate taxes
  • Reducing or eliminating income taxes including capital gains, generation skipping, gift, inheritance, and transfer taxes
  • Be a part of a special group of donors at CCFCS who are recognized for their generosity and foresight. Please let us know if you have provided for CCFCS through a planned gift and you will have the option to be included on our recognition wall and to be invited to upcoming events

Learn more about planned giving options by talking to your financial advisor. For more information about designating a gift to Family and Community Services, please contact: contact Tracy Kroft at (585) 339-9800 x 305 or email: tracy.kroft@dor.org.
